Cost: Cost for local printing
Timeline: 10-15 minutes per Huddle Talk
Huddle talks are a way to engage others to raise awareness and spark conversations in a very quick way. This awareness activity is designed to provide staff and/or patients and families visual awareness on the impacts that vision has on the risk of falls and then engage in discussions on how to foster safe environments, especially as it relates to those with vision impairment.
It consists of three posters that can be used to evoke thought and discussion:
- Poster 1 provides a visual illustration of the vision loss associated with dense cataract impairment.
- Poster 2 provides a visual illustration of the vision loss associated with diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
- Poster 3 provides tips on creating safer environments for those with vision impairment.
Gather a group of staff and/or others in your area together and share the attached posters. Ask what things in your environment can be adjusted for safety. You can also display the posters in your area for additional awareness building.
