Whether you walk, bike, skate, take public transit or drive, the roads you use every day play a huge role in keeping you safe – or putting you at risk. That’s why for Canadian Youth Road Safety Week 2024, Parachute wants to hear from you about how our roads can be safer for everyone.

How to join:
Spot the issue
- Explore your neighbourhood and find a spot where road safety could use a boost. Think of places where pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, transit users or drivers face safety risks. In could be anything from a cracked sidewalk to a busy street with no bike lane, lacking a speed limit of 30 km/h, or a poorly lit intersection.
- Snap some photos or take a video of the problem area
- Think of some ways that the problem could be fixed – maybe adding a bike lane, installing a streetlight, lowering the speed limit to 30 km/h, repairing a damaged road or adding a speed bump.
Tell us your fix
- Write a brief description of the problem and your solution to make it safer.
- Reach out to a local community influencer – your local police department, municipal councillor, media outlets or school administration. You can email them or send a letter with your suggestions.
Show us your snap
- Send us the photos or videos highlighting the issue and your proposed solution
- Include a copy of the letter or email that you send to the community influencer
