Avocating for improved pedestrian safety near Divine Mercy Catholic School

Issue and proposed solutions
One of our youth council chairs is advocating for improved pedestrian safety near the intersection of Silas Hill Drive and Van Horne Avenue, near Divine Mercy Catholic School. The sidewalk along this road is narrow, and the intersection lacks a flashing pedestrian signal creating a hazard for students walking to and from school. To address this, a letter was sent to the Mayor of Toronto and a local councillor to propose a flashing pedestrian signal and widening the sidewalk.
Outcome:
A city councillor has responded, acknowledging the concerns and a three way stop sign has been added to the intersection to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the road.
